We are in Kampung Salang on Pulau Tioman - that's a lot of unusual words to say we're on a paradise-like tropical island with actual white-sand beaches and the sort of turquoise water you only see in pictures. There is about 20 meters visibility underwater and some amazingly colorful fish - highlight of our snorkelling … Continue reading Pulau Tioman

Tea’s Company
Today I am writing from Melaka, Malaysia. Or Malacca. Or Malaka. There are dozens of ways people spell this city, but one thing is constant: it's beautiful. It's a photographer's dream. There are so many interesting buildings and people that I have to fight not to take constant pictures of everything. We're staying at a … Continue reading Tea’s Company
The Silent Speaks…
Ahhh, Asia. Nothing makes the memories flood back like the little touches – squeezing onto a rush-hour train so crowded that falling over isn’t just not a concern, it’s an impossibility; various shops and stalls lining every free square inch of space selling food that can’t be pronounced easily with a lazy Middle-American tongue used … Continue reading The Silent Speaks…

But … Continue reading Reader Poll
Quick Update
We landed in Kuala Lumpur yesterday afternoon, so we are no longer in Indonesia, for those that are following the story regarding the hotel bombings in Jakarta. Do not worry, we are just fine. Malaysia so far has been night and day different as far as cleanliness, safety, and general comfort level.
Indonesia – Thoughts and Impressions
Indi and I fly out of Indonesia in about twelve hours and head to Malaysia. I'm very excited about this, and have been spending the last few hours thinking about my time here and what I've seen. Here are some of my preliminary observations: 1. Western Culture Creep. Some parts of Indonesia are very old-school … Continue reading Indonesia – Thoughts and Impressions
Music Soothes the Soul
I've had a few opportunities on this trip to just sit back and immerse myself in music. Most of it has been from my iPod, but a few times I've been able to relax and enjoy some local fare. In Ubud, Bali, we were across the street from a business that made drums. At various … Continue reading Music Soothes the Soul
